Possible Student Summer Internships to be Offered in St. Francis

USD 297 is working with Nex-Gen, which is a 501(c)(3) organization that Nex-Tech helped get started in 2013, to establish summer internships in the St. Francis area for high school students aged 16 and older.  The purpose of the internships is to allow students to gain exposure to potential careers they are interested in pursuing once they leave high school and to encourage students to return to northwest Kansas to work and raise their families.

Nex-Gen has some grant monies available to help offset the cost of the internships if businesses apply and get accepted to the program before December 31, 2017.  Businesses are also able to self-fund an internship if desired.  Besides being a fantastic opportunity for students, there are unique benefits for businesses that participate as well.  For more information about the program, please go the following URL: https://www.nex-tech.com/Portals/0/COMMUNITY/Nex-Gen_Business-Intern-Request-Application.pdf

Jacque Beckman from Nex-Gen will be in St. Francis to discuss the program with business owners willing to learn more.  The meeting will be held on December 21, from 11:00-12:30.  If you are interested in attending the meeting, please notify Rob Schiltz or David Morrow at the high school.  The location of the meeting will be announced when we know the approximate number of attendees.
