Zoe Sundstrom: Prepping for the real world

Senior Zoe Sundstrom started her final ride for her high school career and, at the same time, anticipates her life after high school. Sundstrom’s future plans include attending Fort Hays State University and majoring in business. After college, she doesn’t plan on coming back to St. Francis because she wants to move to a city where she can thrive as a real estate agent.

“Throughout high school, I’ve loved sports,” Sundstrom said. “All of them have been my favorite. Whatever season it is, that’s my favorite sport.” Sundstrom participated in all three sports for her freshman, sophomore, and junior year, but ended her sports career early due to an injury at a track meet last year.

Sundstrom enjoys hanging with friends and going on walks with her mom and she especially loves doing this after school or on her free time. She also has many priorities like taking her dogs for walks and studying so she can get the best grades she can get.

Sundstrom has had many jobs in the past including: working at the pool, working at Wheeler Equity during wheat harvest and now works at the Dollar General. She works on the weekends and after school and looks forward to start making more money for college next year.

Sundstrom prioritizes school and getting good grades. Sundstrom served at prom (which is reserved to top of the class) her freshman year, and placed on the Grace Academics list for four years, and served as honor guard her junior year.

Zoe’s sister, Sydney Sundstrom, said, “Zoe is a woman who is smart, independent, and intelligent. She has a tough shell, but the more you get to know her, the more you will find she has a soft side too. She uses everything she is involved in to benefit her. Sports allow her to be aggressive and intentional in what she does. Band and school allow her to express different sides of her life. Zoe is a girl who you want to be friends with.”

I found Sydney’s advice to be personally true. Zoe is one of my best friends because we get along so well and we enjoy the same things. She always makes me laugh and I’m going to miss her so much next year. I know Zoe can do anything that she puts her mind to and I wish the best for her in college and in the future.
