Tate Busse charges into his senior year

Saint Francis Senior Tate Busse takes on his final year as a Sainty Indian. Already this far in Busse’s year he has had many highlights, especially on the football field. Busse was crowned homecoming king after winning against Triplains Brewster. Also, the Indian football team made it into the first round of playoffs ending the season with a winning record of 7-2. “It was a fun football season full of great memories,” said Busse.

Rodney Yates, Busse’s head football coach described Busse as a “once-in-a-lifetime kid.” Yates said, “Tate's personality impacts everyone around him. His voice and body language carry a lot of weight, and that combination makes him into an outstanding young man. Tate never seems to have a bad day. He always treats people with the utmost respect and courtesy. He is loyal to his friends, honest in his actions, and intent navigating on the moral high ground. His personality is a product of quality parenting and a model for his peers to follow.”

Busse said, “Getting to play for Coach Yates my final three years was a blast. He helped us achieve some things that our school had never done before. I will definitely miss playing football and playing for him.”

When talking about Busse, Yates also said, “Tate carries himself in a manner that more young people should model. He walks with a brisk form of confidence, smiles with excitement, reaches into your heart when he makes eye contact, and shakes hands with affirmation.  Tate's mannerisms make it easy for other people to like him. That product allows him to be authentic, transparent, and compassionate toward other human beings.”

Busse is looking forward to the remainder of his senior year. “I am hoping that I can help lead our basketball team back to the state tournament and finish strong in track also,” he said. Busse has many dreams and goals that he is chasing, especially when it comes to his future with basketball. “I’ve loved basketball since I was a kid, it is something I am not ready to give up yet,” said Busse. “I plan on continuing my basketball career at whichever college fit me best.”

Busse’s head basketball coach, who is also his dad, Cory Busse said “Tate is a great competitor, teammate, and student. I am very proud of him as his dad and as his coach. It has been so much fun watching him grow up and getting the chance to coach him. I am not ready for him to graduate, but I am excited to see what he does in his next step.”

As Tate’s sister I could not be more proud of him. I am so thankful for my brother who has became my best friend. Tate is just now beginning his basketball season, so he has lots of good times ahead.

Busse said, “I can’t wait to see where life takes me, I’m excited for my future.”
