Moments later, Taighe Weeter scored on a cut to the hoop (plus one) after receiving an assist from Hanna Bracelin. Bracelin followed with a free-throw extending the Lady Indian lead to 4-2. It was the first point scored by a Lady Cardinal other than Dewey. St. Francis extended the margin to 16-7 with the addition of a free-throw jumper by Emileigh Dinkel and top-of-the-key trey by Karly Bandel. After another driving score by Dewey, St. Francis called time-out at 2:42 leading 16-9. On the first possession after the time-out, Plainville's Maeson Dewey (5' 10" Sr. and older sister of Aubree) scored in the post. On the next Lady Cardinal possession, Maeson added a banking trey from the top-of-the-key. The basket narrowed the advantage to 16-14 at 1:53. At 1:12, a Lady Indian turnover led to a basket by Jersey Kaiser (5' 4" So.) tying the game. Aubree Dewey would strike again, calmly draining a trey in the closing seconds of the quarter. St. Francis trailed 16-19 after one period of play.

On the opening possession of the second period, Maeson Dewey swished a right-wing trey increasing the deficit to 16-22.
