JH Track Teams Compete in Oberlin

The junior high track teams traveled to Oberlin on Thursday, April 26, for a quad meet. Due to the fact that St. Francis was scheduled to compete in the Quinter Invitational the following day, the entries were adjusted to allow a "lighter" day of competition for many competitors.  Several athletes also tried new events at the meet.

St. Francis placed third in the girls division scoring earning 43.5 team points. The young Indians placed fourth in the boys division with 16 team points. Participating teams included Decatur Community, Hoxie, Rawlins County, and St. Francis.

Girls Division

Rawlins County ran away with the girls division scoring 103 team points. Decatur Community placed second with 60.5. St. Francis earned third with 43.5 and Hoxie fourth with 39.

Lady Indians earning first place finishes were Lyden Lampe in the 1600 meters, Jeanie Strick in the 200 meter hurdles, and the 4 X 100 meter relay team (Mia Morrow, McKenna Poling, Hadleigh Hilt, and Jeanie Strick).

Lady Indians scoring in the meet are listed below.

Jesslynn Houtman - 3rd in 100 meter hurdles (19.92)

Lyden Lampe - 1st in 1600 meters (6:50.66)

Maikaila Matthies - 3rd in 1600 meters (7:31.65)

Mia Morrow - 2nd in 100 meters (13.94)

McKenna Poling - 3rd in high jump (4' 0"), 5th in 100 meters (14.53)

Jeanie Strick - 1st in 200 meter hurdles (32.75)

Talexa Weeter - 2nd in pole vault (6' 6"), 5th in 400 meters (1:19.84)

4 X 100 meter relay - 1st (57.69) - Mia Morrow, McKenna Poling, Hadleigh Hilt, and Jeanie Strick

4 X 200 meter relay - 2nd (2:08.70) - Hadleigh Hilt, Bailey Workman, Janie Ramirez, and Rian Zimbal

 

Boys Division

Hoxie won the boys division with 94 team points. Decatur Community and Rawlins County tied for second with 72. St. Francis placed fourth with 16 team points.

St. Francis did not have any first place finishers in the boys division. The highest finishers for St. Francis were Ben Busse in the 1600 meters and Eli Mills in the 200 meter hurdles each earning second place.

Indians scoring in the meet are listed below.

Ben Busse - 2nd in 1600 meters (5:56.66)

Eli Mills - 2nd in 200 meter hurdles (33.77), 5th in high jump (4' 4")

Shannon Rethke - 3rd in 100 meter hurdles (18.91)

Preston Witzel - 4th in 200 meters (29.73)

4 X 100 meter relay - 3rd (59.27) - Cris Espino, Garrett Helton, Conner Wachsmann, and Colton Raile

The track teams will compete in the Tribune Quad on Thursday, May 3.
