Junior High Lady Indians 2nd

Indians 8th at Quinter Invite

The junior high track teams had a 6:45 a.m. departure for the Quinter Invitational Track and Field Meet. The early morning rise did not seem to affect the performances as both squads had several new PRs (personal records) and both competed well. The Lady Indians earned a second place finish in the fifteen-team meet scoring 88 points. The boys earned 21 team points to place 8th.

St. Francis athletes earning first place included Jeanie Strick in the 200 meter hurdles, the girls 4 X 100 meter relay (Mia Morrow, McKenna Poling, Jeanie Strick, and Ellee Krien), the girls 4 X 200 meter relay (Hadleigh Hilt, Rian Zimbal, Jesslynn Houtman, and Mia Morrow), and the girls 4 X 400 meter relay (McKenna Poling, Ellee Krien, Jeanie Strick, and Jesslynn Houtman). 

Girls Division

Golden Plains won the girls division totaling 98 team points. St. Francis placed 2nd with 88. Wheatland-Grinnell earned third with 79 points. The remainder of the competing teams finished in the following order:  4th - Oakley 64, 5th - Quinter - 59.5, 6th - Hoxie 28, 7th - Northern Valley 27, 8th - Dighton 22.5, 9th - Heartland Christian 18, 10th - Western Plains 14, 11th - Triplains 13, 12th - Brewster 10, 13th - Healy 4, 14th - Cheylin 3, and 15th - Weskan 1.

 

St. Francis athletes placing in the Quinter Invitational are listed below.

Jesslynn Houtman - 6th in triple jump (27' 2.25")

Ellee Krien - 3rd in 400 meters (1:10.12), 6th in long jump (12' 6")

Lyden Lampe - 4th in 3200 meters (14:52.36)

Mia Morrow - 2nd in 100 meters (14.22), 3rd in triple jump (29' 7")

McKenna Poling - 2nd in 200 meters (29.74), 4th in 100 meters (14.59)

Jeanie Strick - 1st in 200 meter hurdles ( 32.66), 2nd in 100 meter hurdles (17.80)

Talexa Weeter - 5th in pole vault (6' 0")

4 X 100 meter relay - 1st (56.54) - Mia Morrow, McKenna Poling, Jeanie Strick, and Ellee Krien

4 X 200 meter relay - 1st (2:07.08) - Hadleigh Hilt, Rian Zimbal, Jesslynn Houtman, and Mia Morrow

4 X 400 meter relay - 1st (4:48.81) - McKenna Poling, Ellee Krien, Jeanie Strick, and Jesslynn Houtman

Boys Division

The Quinter Invitational boys division was won by Hoxie with 85.5 team points. Wheatland-Grinnell scored 74 to placed second, and Golden Plains earned third with 61. The other teams placed in the following order:  4th - Triplains 59, 5th - Quinter 56.83, 6th - Northern Valley 55, 7th - Dighton 29, 8th - St. Francis 21, 9th - Cheylin 20.33, 10th - Heartland Christian 20, 11th - Oakley -19, 12th - Brewster 16.33, and 13th - Weskan 10. Healy and Western Plains did not score in the boys division.

Indians placing in the boys division are listed below.

Ben Busse - 3rd in the 1600 meters (5:46.36), 5th in the 800 meters (2:41.19)

Eli Mills - 6th in the 1600 meters (6:02.29)

Rhonald Neitzel - 5th in the 400 meters (1:04.96)

Shannon Rethke - 5th in the 200 meter hurdles (31.42)

4 X 100 meter relay - 3rd (55.63) - Preston Witzel, Shannon Rethke, Rhonald Neitzel, and Colton Raile

4 X 400 meter relay - 5th (4:42.02) - Ben Busse, Rhonald Neitzel, Preston Witzel, and Shannon Rethke

The teams will compete in the Tribune Quad on Thursday, May 3.
