Track Teams Compete in Colby Invitational

On Friday, May 4, the high school track teams traveled to Dennon Field in Colby to compete in the Colby Invitational. As usual, the meet featured strong competition from many outstanding track athletes. St. Francis placed 3rd in the mens division and eleventh in the womens division. Winning individual events for St. Francis were Tate Busse in the 400 meter dash and Richard Johnson in the pole vault.

Mens Division

The mens division was won by Holcomb with 112 team points. Colby placed second with 105. St. Francis earned third place with 104 team points. The remainder of the 14-team field placed as follows:  4th - Oakley 36, 5th (tie) - Logan 34, 5th (tie) - Norton Community 34, 7th - Hoxie 31, 8th - Brewster 24, 9th (tie) - Goodland 22, 9th (tie) - Wallace County 22, 11th - Golden Plains 12, 12th - Weskan 8, 13th - Ulysses 6, and 14th - Triplains 5.

Indians placing in the Colby Invitational are listed below.

Cody Baxter - 2nd in 300 meter hurdles (44.54)

Shadryon Blanka - 2nd in triple jump (40' 5.5"), 6th in pole vault (11' 6")

Tate Busse - 1st in 400 meters (51.86)

Garin Cooper - 6th in triple jump (37' 10.25)

Brady Dinkel - 5th in 800 meters (2:09.58)

Jake Faulkender - 2nd in 3200 meters (10:45.24)

Wyatt Hackler - 5th in 100 meters (11.47), 6th in 200 meters (23.70)

Richard Johnson - 1st in pole vault (12' 6"), 5th in triple jump (38' 4.75")

Isaiah Lee - 4th in long jump (18' 11.5")

Luin Norris - 2nd in discus (126' 10.5")

Nick Paulsen - 3rd in javelin (131' 6")

Tiernan Poling - 4th in pole vault (12' 0"), 4th in triple jump (38' 10")

Jordan Raby - 4th in 100 meters (11.36), 4th in 200 meters (22.92)

Dalton Straub - 2nd in long jump (20' 3")

4 X 100 meter relay - 2nd (44.35) - Adam Krien, Jordan Raby, Dalton Straub, and Wyatt Hackler

4 X 400 meter relay - 3rd (3:29.35) - Jordan Raby, Adam Krien, Wyatt Hackler, and Tate Busse

Womens Division

Norton Community won the womens division scoring 114 team points. Colby placed second with 98. The rest of the teams finished in the following order:  3rd - Golden Plains 64, 4th - Hoxie 54, 5th - Logan 51, 6th (tie) Holcomb 38, 6th (tie) - Oakley 38, 8th - Goodland 37, 9th - Wallace County 27, 10th - Triplains 21.5, 11th - St. Francis 7, 12th - Ulysses 5.5, 13th - Weskan 2, and 14th - Brewster 0.

Lady Indians placing in the Colby Invitational are listed below.

Hannah Zimbal - 5th in 400 meters (1:03.62)

4 x 400 meter relay - 6th (4:32.44) - Hannah Zimbal, Madison Tice, Joslyn Ketzner, and Lindsey Johnson

4 x 800 meter relay - 4th (10:56.35) - Hannah Zimbal, Taighe Weeter, Kattie Wurm, and Emma Johnson

The track teams will compete in the Northwest Kansas League Track Meet on Thursday, May 10, in St. Francis. If the weather is bad on Thursday, the meet will be held on Friday, May 11.
