Homecoming Activities Enjoyed

September 10-15 was Homecoming Week for St. Francis Community Schools. Many activities were enjoyed throughout the week leading up to the homecoming football game with the Dighton Hornets on Friday and the Homecoming Dance on Saturday. Each day was given a "theme" for Homecoming Week.

Monday was "Meme Day." Students were encouraged to dress up as their favorite meme. In the afternoon, the cheerleaders went to the Grade School to teach cheers to the elementary students. The senior football players also took their football gear to the Grade School to allow the younger students to try on their equipment. Both the older and younger students seemed to have a great time. In the evening, the seniors "painted the streets" following a long-time tradition for Homecoming Week. After the streets were painted a "shaving cream and water fight" was held in the City Park. Check the "Photos" page for pictures of "painting the streets" and other activities held during the week.

Tuesday was designated as "Career Day," and students dressed as their desired career. The day was also "Volleyball Recognition Day." The volleyball team traveled to Sharon Springs and defeated Wallace County 26-24, 25-15 and Greeley County 25-13, 25-12. The junior varsity team won the only matched they played against Wallace County 25-21, 25-12.

The theme for Wednesday was "PJ Day." Students wore their favorite pajamas to school. Also on Wednesday, the FFA Land Judging Team will participated in the district land judging contest in Norton.

Thursday was "Nerd Day" and student were seen in many "nerdy" costumes. On Thursday, the volleyball teams hosted Lone Star. There was only one best 3 of 5 varsity match. The Lady Indians won the match 25-11, 25-11, 25-14 in dominating fashion. The junior high volleyball and football teams also played in Dighton. The Homecoming Bonfire was held at the High School at 8:00 p.m. An ice cream social sponsored by the First National Bank was held in the High School Cafeteria after the bonfire. Below is a clip of the class yells at the Ice Cream Social.

On Friday, "Green and Gold Day," almost everyone dressed in green and gold to show support for the Indians. In the afternoon, the Homecoming Parade traveled down Washington Street while the junior high and elementary students and fans lined the streets. After the parade, a pep rally was held in the High School Gymnasium. Here are a few short excerpts from the parade and class skits at the pep assembly:
