MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL BOARD MEETING – November 20, 2018
The special Board meeting was called to order on the above date at 7:00 p.m. by Board President Cale Rieger in the administration office with all members present. No Administration were present for this meeting. Gary Sechrist of KASB was also present.
Mila Bandel moved to approve the agenda with one change; meeting will be in open session not executive session. The motion was seconded by Chris Hingst and carried.
Gary Sechrist, KASB then reviewed and discussed the Superintendent Characteristics Forum held that afternoon. Mr. Sechrist felt that he had a good turn-out for each of the sessions.
The top characteristics mentioned during the forum were: decisive and unbiased, open minded, takes charge, confident. It is also very important for this person to understand the culture in the community and school district, support community efforts. We would hope that this person is passionate and caring, high moral standards, honest and a hard worker.
Applications for the Superintendent’s position are due to KASB by January 8, 2019. All applications will be screened by a three-person team chaired by KASB. The screening may be completed at the USD 297 office.
On Wednesday, January 16, 2019, the board of education will meet at 6:00 p.m. to hear the report of the screening committee. After due deliberation of the board regarding the finalists, the board president will call the candidates to schedule an interview.
At 8:20 p.m. Chris Hingst made a motion to adjourn; seconded by Troy Hilt and carried. Next Board meeting is scheduled for December 13, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.
