Junior High Girls Whack the Cougars
On Tuesday, November 27, the junior high girls basketball traveled to McDonald to compete with the Cheylin Lady Cougars. Due to low numbers of participants on the Cheylin squad (7), no B-team contest was played. The Lady Indians dominated the Lady Cougars 54-7.
The outcome of the contest was decided early as St. Francis took a commanding 20-2 lead after one period of play. In the first period, the Lady Indians received 10 points from Rian Zimbal, 6 from Ellee Krien, and 2 each from Maggie Hingst, and Molly Gilliland. Cheylin's only score came on a field goal by Vivian Yanez.
The Lady Indians added 12 more points in the second stanza while playing 10 different players. Cheylin added only 1 to their total. The Lady Indians led 32-3 at halftime.
In the third period, the Lady Indians out-scored the Lady Cougars 18-1 to lead 50-4 at the third quarter break. St. Francis defeated Cheylin 54-7 in the A-team girls contest.
Scoring for St. Francis in the game were Rian Zimbal (26), Ellee Krien (10), Molly Gilliland (6), Jesslynn Houtman (6), Maggie Hingst (4), and Jacki Milliken (2). Vivian Yanez scored all seven of the Lady Cougar's points. St. Francis made 2 of 5 from the the line while Cheylin connected on 3 of 6.
The Lady Indians will play Rawlins County, in Atwood, on Thursday, November 29.
