MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL BOARD MEETING – JANUARY 16, 2019

 

SUPERINTENDENT’S SEARCH:

 

The special Board meeting was called to order on the above date at 5:00 P.M. by Board President Cale Rieger in the administration office with all members present.  No Administration was present for this meeting.  Gary Sechrist of KASB was also present.

 

At 5:00 P.M. Cale Rieger made a motion to go into executive session for 45 minutes for the purpose of a non-elected personnel issue, with justification of protecting the privacy rights of the individuals.  The motion was seconded by Chris Hingst, and carried.  At 5:45 P.M., the open meeting resumed.  No action was taken.

 

Gary Sechrist of KASB presented three applicants to the Board to be considered for the Superintendent’s position.  The applicants are as follows:

 

                  1)              Trenton Horn from Chapman, KS

                  2)              Mark Penka from Dighton, KS

                  3)              Casey Robinson from Riverton, WY

 

After the meeting is adjourned, Board President Rieger will contact each applicant to set up interviews for next week.

 

The Board discussed the salary range for the new Superintendent as well as paying moving expenses up to $2,000 upon receipts being submitted to the District Clerk.  Blue Cross and Blue Shield Insurance will also be offered to the applicant that is chosen for Superintendent, with the school paying $435 towards a single policy or $870 for any other policy.

 

The next Special Board meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 for the purpose of interviewing one of the applicants.  January 23rd and January 24th will also be Special Board meetings to interview for a potential Superintendent.

 

At 6:26 P.M., Dustin Andrist made a motion to adjourn; the motion was seconded by Troy Hilt and carried.
