State Track Results
The 2019 Kansas State Track and Field Meet was an "extended" affair. Due to threatening weather in the Wichita area, the meet scheduled for Friday and Saturday was delayed. Due to heavy rain, the Friday morning start was delayed. When the meet finally got under way, two lightning delays interrupted the meet before it was eventually called on Friday afternoon.
With most events not competed on Friday, the preliminaries in the majority of events were scratched and all events were competed as finals on Saturday. Late Saturday afternoon, another rain delay stalled the competition. The event was finally completed on Sunday, May 26.
St. Francis had entrants in several events, and a few of the athletes performed well enough to earn placings. St. Francis athletes, competing the the State Meet are listed below along with their performance as well as the event winning performance.
Cody Baxter - placed 9th in the 110 high hurdles running 16.45. The event was won by David Entz of Elbing-Berean Academy with a time of 15.28. Cody also placed 16th in the 300 meter hurdles recording a time of 47.83. Cody was running 4th in the event when he stumbled on a hurdle late in the race and fell. The event was won by Darrien Holloway of Osborne with a time of 40.08.
Brady Dinkel placed 6th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.25. The event was won by Thomas Atkins of Hanover with a time of 22.87.
Jordan Raby placed 6th in the 400 meter dash clocking a time of 52.10. The event winner, Joshua Fielder of Udall, ran 49.83.
The Indians' 4 X 100 meter relay team consisting of Cody Baxter, Jordan Raby, Brady Dinkel, and Shadryon Blanka earned second place. The team ran a time of 44.60 to place just a bit behind the winning team from Clifton-Clyde (44.20).
The boys 4 X 400 meter relay team did not run until Sunday. The team of Jayce Nider, Brady Dinkel, Cody Baxter, and Jordan Raby finished second with a time of 3:30.29. They were just off the pace of the event champion Almena-Northern Valley who turned in a time of 3:29.96.
The Indians' 4 X 800 meter relay team placed 9th. K.C. Krien, Bryce Raby, Brady Dinkel, and Jordan Raby recorded a time of 8:51.83. St. John won the event with an 8:23.90 time.
Shadryon Blanka competed in the boys triple jump. Shadryon jumped 39' 6.25" to earn 14th place. A jump of 44' 7.5" was recorded by Joshua Fielder of Udall to win the event.
Hannah Zimbal placed 11th in the girls 400 meter run recording a time of 1:02. 73. Paige Baird of Almena-Northern Valley won the event with a time of 58.39.
St. Francis placed 16th in the girls 4 X 100 meter relay. The team of Mia Morrow, Lindsey Johnson, Emma Johnson, and Hannah Zimbal recorded a time of 53.96. Frankfort won the event with a new state record time of 50..44.
As a team, the Indians placed 12th scoring 22 team points. Almena-Northen Valley won the state championship earning 55.5 points. Kiowa County won the girls division with 69 team points.
