VB competes with Greeley County

On October 7, the Lady Indians continued to get better and cruised to a victory against the Greeley County Jackrabbits. The varsity won 25-21, 25-11, 25-15 to win despite a little bit of a sluggish start. The varsity played the best out of five due to there only being one team to compete against.

“I thought the game went really good,” said Junior Emma Johnson. “Every game, I think everyone is playing better and better as a whole and I hope to continue winning games and getting better.”

The junior varsity also continued to get better but only played one set against Tribune due to them only having nine players. Tribune took the set 19-25. Their jv was made up of mostly varsity players.

“The game was pretty great,” said Senior Audrey Meyer. “I feel like I personally had a few good hits and since it was a home game, I also got to play a little varsity.”

The players aren’t successful just on their own. The coaches put in many hours to help the girls feel prepared and they push us to make sure we are always giving our best.

“After a slow start to the first set, the team finally went to battle and owned the next two sets by just playing our game,” said assistant coach Talley Morrow. “We probably should of totally dominated from the start, but with such a young team, we are still working through some things and that’s okay.”

“As far as post-season goes, I believe we are going to have to come out swinging from the start and play as error-free as possible in order to earn our way to sub-state and place well in league. We have a great team and are experiencing an enjoyable season.”

The Lady Indians will take on Sharon Springs and Triplains-Brewster in their last home game of the season on senior night on October 15.
