Future chiropractor recognized for service to community

Marlo Jensen is an active student in school and in the community. She is passionate about volunteering and is ranked third in the state for community service hours.

“It was a great feeling knowing I got rewarded for all of the hard work I have done over the years,” said Jensen.

Jensen is a part of FFA, youth group, choir, Girl Scouts, and band. She would like to continue these activities after high school, too. Outside of these activities, Jensen loves to spend time with her family and volunteer. Punctuality is important to Jensen as she is always on time or shows up a little before time.

“Marlo is a great person all around. She is also very responsible and fun to be around,” said Freshman Madison Barnhart. Barnhart is in Girl Scouts, band, and choir with Jensen.

Jensen loves going to car shows too. She loves to show her 1953 F-100 V8. Jensen likes meeting new people and looking at the other unique, old cars.

Talley Morrow, choir and band teacher, described Jensen as dependable.

“If there is ever anything that needs done, Marlo is there and ready to help,” said Morrow.

Morrow said she has enjoyed Marlo in class over the last four years. While she has many fun memories with Marlo, her favorite memory was when Marlo was a freshman and they were doing a Secret Santa Gift Exchange and Cocoa & Carols.

“Marlo got so giggly that she snorted super-loud in front of all of the high school musicians,” Morrow said. “We all started laughing so hard that we could not stop.”

Jensen’s plan after high school is to attend Kansas Wesleyan University to pursue a BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) and later become a chiropractor. She will continue church activities at Kansas Wesleyan, which is a Methodist church-based university.

“I hope that in 10 years I will have my BSN and searching for somewhere to settle down with my chiropractic degree,” said Jensen.
