Life-Long Wildcat

Karly Bandel has wanted to go to K-State since she was six and literally has never wanted to go anywhere else, so it would only be fitting for her to continue her education there. Bandel is planning to attend college in the “Little Apple,” in Manhattan, Kansas, next fall and will major in pre-health or pre-occupational therapy. She decided to keep the family legacy of being a Wildcat, just like her grandparents, parents and older sister.

Senior Brady Dinkel is also a major fan of the Wildcats.

“My favorite memory with Karly is when they got a house in Manhattan and we spent time with her family and ours together before and after the (K-State) game,” said Dinkel.

Senior Cassidy Busse said they have spent numerous birthday parties together when they were young.

“She is a caring person and so fun to be around,” Busse said.

Coach ShayLinn Zweygardt has been coaching Bandel in volleyball and basketball since eighth grade. Zweygardt said Karly is a one-of-a-kind fun, loving, hard working and a kind young lady.

“She loves spending time with her friends, family and all things KSU,” said Zweygardt. “She isn’t afraid to rise up to the challenge.”

Bandel has been in yearbook all four years of high school and this year she held the realm of the advertising manager.

“Karly has a lot of organizational skills which she is using to layout 20 plus ad pages and design roughly 20 advertisements as the advertising manager of our yearbook,” Rogie Dorpinghaus, yearbook adviser, said. “I feel so blessed to have seen how far she has come. She stood out as a freshman as a reliable student I could depend on and has proven to be that reliable force even in her senior year as she is continuously submitting her weekly assignments as soon as they are posted. As a K-State alumna, I’m excited for her to continue her education at a place that is dear to my heart as well. EMAW.”
