Watch out Gaines family, Senior is coming for your job

Sierra Robbins, senior, loves everything about woods class and dreams of decorating and flipping houses like the Gaines family.

Robbins plans to attend North Central Kansas Technical College in Beloit, Kansas to major in carpentry and cabinetmaking.

She said she fell in love with woods because when she’s working on projects she can focus and get into her own little world.

“And I don’t have to worry about anyone or anything else, I just have to focus on what I’m doing for the time being,” said Robbins.

Robbins talked with her aunt about real estate and decided it was something she was interested in. After talking with her aunt, Robbins started taking real estate classes to get her license.

Sierra said she has had highs and lows throughout high school. During her sophomore and junior year she experienced one of her lows, which was struggling and learning to cope and deal with anxiety. She also struggled with overthinking and stressing out about everything too much. She has since taken care of as much as she can.

“I still do it constantly,” Robbins said. “But I’ve learned that everyone makes mistakes and God has made my life the way He wants it to play out, and I just need to put more trust in Him and let Him lead the way through my life.”

Some of her highs this year have included tie-dying shirts for VSCO day with her classmates, painting the streets, and working on the senior class float. A few other highs she's had during high school include going to state football, dancing during halftime at football games, and going to state wrestling and cheering on the wrestlers.

“My future motivates me and my family,” Robbins said. “I want to be able to be successful like my dad and to be able to provide for my future family and have a good life.”

Sophomore Hailey Robbins is Sierra’s cousin. Hailey said they are not only family, but best friends, too.

“She has a very strong sense of responsibility,” said Hailey. “She’s going to do great with what she wants to do. It’s going to be crazy not to see her in the halls. It’s hard to wrap my head around that she won’t be there sneaking up on me everyday in the hallways. I know it’s going to be so different.”

Junior, Kattie Wurm, is one of Robbins closes friends and said she looks up to Robbins, because of her organization and self-motivation.

“Sierra is a very loving person, but also very tough and independent,” Wurm said. “Everything she does is a strength. If not, she’ll make it her strength.”
