Cheyenne County Spelling Bee is February 2nd
Cheylin Schools will host the Cheyenne County Spelling Bee on Wednesday, February 2nd. The contest will be held in the Cheylin High School Gymnasium in Bird City beginning at 1:30 PM. Students in grades four through eight from Cheylin and St. Francis will be competing in the spelling bee. The county champion will then move on to compete in the State Spelling Bee at a later date. The spelling bee is being sponsored by the Great Bend Tribune.
Three students from each grade from each school will be entered in the contest. Students competing the contest have been selected by classroom activities. Students representing St. Francis are: Fourth Grade--Kyla Hicks, Lauren Johnson, Tayton Weeter (alternate Shelby Wolff); Fifth Grade--Devin Patton, Luke Lampe, and McKinnley Bartels, (alternate Matthisen Witzel); Sixth Grade--Joel Hill, Ryan Grover, and Sophie White (alternate Makayla Rogers); Seventh Grade--Austin Patton, Jude Faulkender, and Sydney Sundstrom; Eighth Grade--Aby Fernandez, Valerie Wurm, and McKayla Taylor.
The Spelling Bee is open to the public.
