In B team action, St. Francis defeated Rawlins County in two very close matches. The Lady Indians prevailed 25-22; 25-23. Mckayla Rogers had 13 good serves in the match.
In the Colby B team match, St. Francis trailed 20-22 in the first set but came back to win 25-23 capitalizing on some good team play. In the second set, the Lady Indians dominated the visiting Colby team 25-7. Katie Schmid served 15 consecutive points to close the match.
In A team action, the Lady Indians defeated Rawlins County by a score of 25-22; 25-13. Sydney Sundstrom had 11 good serves in the match.
In the Colby match, the Lady Indians defeated the Eagles in a close first set 25-22. The score was tied at 20-all, but the home team made some aggressive plays to win the set. In the second set, Sydney Sundstrom got the Lady Indians off to a great start serving 8 consecutive points. The team cruised to a 25-9 win over the visiting Eagles.
Coach Tina Elliott made the following comments about the evening. "Once again we had a triangular playing both Atwood (Rawlins Co) and Colby on home court. The A and B played at the same time in different gyms for the Atwood matches, so Coach Kent Kechter stepped in to help us out this week and coached the B team girls first match. We managed to win all of our matches this time and we were very excited at the end of the night. For the B team against Atwood we had 2 sets that were close in points but we held on and came out on top. Then against Colby the B team had a close first set but dominated with a very high percentage in serves in the second set. The A team against Atwood was a lot like the B team against Colby by the scores and serving because we had a close first set and then did very well with serving in the second set for a match win. The A team against Colby we were nervous about because these girls looked intimidating to us but they were never able to get a good set up against us and we were able to find their weak spots and holes on the court making it a very exciting win for us. We hope to have more wins this season by working hard and continuing to improve on our game"
The junior high volleyball team will play on Thursday, September 15th, at 4:30 in Oakley.
