High School Track Teams Compete in NWKL Meet

On a cool breezy Friday afternoon, the high school track teams competed in the Northwest Kansas League Track Meet in Oberlin.  St. Francis tied for second place in the boys division and were 6th in the girls division.  St. Francis had one individual champion in the girls division and one individual champion in the boys division.

Decatur Community won the girls team championship with 151 points.  Oakley placed second with 111 points.  Placing 3rd was Rawlins County (99), 4th Hoxie (93), 5th Quinter (76), and 6th St. Francis (25).

Aly Schlepp won the 800 meter run to earn the only gold medal for St. Francis in the girls division.  Lady Indians placing in the NWKL meet are listed below.

Aly Schlepp:  1st 800 meters 2:39.00

McKayla Taylor:  5th 100 meter hurdles 18.01

Dallas Reed:  3rd pole vault 7' 6"

4 X 100 meter relay:  (Valerie Wurm, Echo Jones, McKayla Taylor, Ally Northrup) 5th 57.94

4 X 400 meter relay:  (Laura Brunk, Ashlee Orth, Justice Wiley, Ally Schlepp)  6th 5:02.33

4 X 800 meter relay:  (Aly Schlepp, Shelby Cassaw, Justice Wiley, Laura Brunk) 4th 11:34.63

In the boys division, St. Francis tied for second place with Decatur Community scoring 113 points.  Oakley won the boys championship with 144 points.  Hoxie place 4th (111), Rawlins County 5th (35), and Quinter 6th (33).  Isaac Schiltz won three gold medals at the the NWKL meet placing first in the high jump, pole vault, and triple jump.  Boys placing in the meet for St. Francis are listed below.

Thomas Douthit:  2nd 100 meters 11.60; 4th 200 meters 24.81

Logan Lampe:  6th 100 meters 12.02; 6th 200 meters 25.12

Steven Nelson:  2nd 100 meter hurdles 17.18; 3rd 300 meter hurdles 46.49

4 X 800 meter relay:  (Lane Hoffman, Tyler Raby, Casey Keller, Michael Leibbrandt)  3rd 10:33.49

Isaac Schiltz:  1st high jump 5' 10"; 1st pole vault 13' 0"; 1st triple jump 39' 11 1/2"; 2nd long jump 18' 7 1/4"

Casey Keller:  2nd high jump 5' 8"

Mason Schiltz:  2nd pole vault 12' 6"; 6th high jump 5' 2"

Cade Bracelin:  2nd shot put 42' 4"; 4th javelin 141' 8"

Zach Gienger:  3rd discus 120' 5"; 5th shot put 38' 2"
