Indians Lose Close Dual to Rawlins County

On Thursday, January 17th, the St. Francis Indian wrestling team lost a close dual to Rawlins County in St. Francis.  The Indians fell behind early in the dual due to open weights and several early losses, but came on strong in the upper weights to take the lead after the 195 pound class was wrestled.  The Indians did not have anyone in the upper to two weight classes and lost the dual 36-39.  Only eight weight classes were wrestled with each team winning four.

Coach Dylan Loyd had the following comments on the evening, "This really was a good dual with some good matches.  Atwood has themselves a pretty tough team, they have a couple of high quality kids.  We wrestled pretty well for the most part; there definitely are something’s that we need to work on.  We have got to get better on our feet, I think this is an area that we really didn’t perform well Thursday.  We still struggle with picking up the intensity on our feet, I feel like sometimes maybe we try to rush things instead of working a good set-up to a shot but, we battled them tough.  We have a short week, we travel to Hoxie on Thursday night to take on a tough Hoxie team, and then Saturday we head to Oberlin for the Western Kansas Tournament of Champions.  It will be a very tough week/weekend but, After this weekend we should have a pretty good feel of where we are at as a team."

"Thursday night really was a neat deal though.  We had the kids club, junior high, and high school all come together in one setting as one big family and get to support one another which I think is a pretty neat deal.  The fan support we had at our first home dual was tremendous!"
