Junior High Track Teams Join Atwood Meet
St. Francis Junior High tracksters were in action in Atwood on Monday, May 6th. The meet was not on the original school schedule, but the meet was added when the track meet regularly scheduled at St. Francis was snowed out on Thursday, May 2nd. Seven teams competed in the meet including, Decatur Community, Dighton, Hoxie, Quinter, Rawlins County, St. Francis and Wichita County.
The St. Francis athletes competed very well. St. Francis had several individual event winners. Quinton Cravens won the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17.18. Taylor Rogers won the 200 meter hurdles with a 28.84 clocking. The boys 4 X 100 meter relay team consisting of Quinton Cravens, Joel Hill, Jeremiah Neitzel, and Taylor Rogers finished first with a good time of 50.37. Sophie White was the only Lady Indian to win an individual event. Sophie’s time of 33.97 in the 200 meter hurdles earned her a first place finish. Madi Tice, Zoe Sundstrom, Jylian Laten, and Hanna Bracelin won the girls 4 X 100 meter relay in 58.94 seconds. A 2:11.06 time turned in by Devin Patton, Jylian Laten, Zoe Sundstrom, and Madi Tice won the girls 4 X 200 meter relay.
St. Francis won the boys division. St. Francis scored 111 points to narrowly edge Decatur Community with 110 points. Wichita County placed 3rd with 91 team points. The remainder of the boys team scoring was: 4th Rawlins County (77), 5th Quinter (65), 6th Dighton (46), and 7th Hoxie (20).
Indians placing in the Atwood Meet were:
Tate Busse – 4th in 1600 meters (5:43.12); 4th in high jump (4’ 10”)
Quinton Cravens – 1st in 100 meter hurdles (17.18); 3rd in triple jump (32’ 10 ½”); 4th in long jump (14’ 11’)
Trayton Doyle _ 6th in shot put (32’ 7”)
Sayed Fierro – 3rd in 100 meter hurdles (18.28); 5th in 400 meters (1:02.84)
Ryan Grover – 3rd in shot put (35’ 11”)
Joel Hill – 2nd in triple jump (33’ 1”); 3rd in discus (108’ 0”); 3rd in long jump (15’ 1’)
Luke Lampe – 5th in long jump (14’ 10 ½”)
J.R. Landenberger – 6th in 100 meters (13.31)
Jeremiah Neitzel – 5th in 200 meters (27.78); 6th in shot put (31’ 4”)
Taylor Rogers – 1st in 200 meter hurdles (28.84); 2nd in 100 meters (12.74); 3rd in high jump (5’ 0”)
4 X 100 meter relay – 1st (50.37) Quinton Cravens, Joel Hill, Jeremiah Neitzel, and Taylor Rogers
4 X 200 meter relay – 3rd (1:59.37) Sayed Fierro, Tate Busse, Luke Lampe, and Dalton Straub
St. Francis placed 5th in the girls division. Decatur Community won the girls competition with 91.5 team points. Quinter was second with 90. Hoxie and Dighton battled for 3rd with Hoxie edging Dighton 76.5 to 75. St. Francis was 5th with 64 team points. Rawlins County (63) and Wichita County (48) were 6th and 7th respectively.

Jenna Confer – 6th in 3200 meters (19:49.40)

Zoe Sundstrom – 5th in 100 meter hurdles (19.43)
Madi Tice – 3rd in 400 meters (1:09.11); 4th in 200 meters (29.94)
Sophie White – 1st in 200 meter hurdles (33.97); 2nd in 100 meter hurdles (18.18); 4th in 100 meters (14.81)
4 X 100 meter relay – 1st (58.94) Madi Tice, Zoe Sundstrom, Jylian Laten, and Hanna Bracelin

The junior high track teams will conclude their season at the Northwest Kansas League Junior High Track Meet in Oakley on Friday, May 10th.
