Junior High Girls Swept By Quinter

The junior high girls basketball teams lost all three contests played in Quinter on Monday, November 19. The A-team girls lost to Quinter in a close contest 24-27. The B-team girls were defeated by the Lady Bulldogs 15-26. In a one quarter-only contest, the C-team girls lost 0-4.

In the A-team contest, Quinter jumped out to an 8-4 lead after one quarter of play. The Lady Indians earned baskets from Bree De Waal, Jesslynn Houtman, and Rian Zimbal (3) in the second period and narrowed the margin to 14-15 by halftime. Makaila Matthies added two baskets to the Lady Indians' cause in the third period helping to keep pace with the Lady Bulldogs. The teams were tied at 19-all after three periods. In the final period, Quinter received baskets from 4 different players, while the Lady Indians earned a trey and free-throw by Ellee Krien, and free-throw from Zimbal. St. Francis was defeated by Quinter 24-27.

Scoring for St. Francis in the A-team contest were Rian Zimbal 11, Ellee Krien 5, Makaila Matthies 4, Bree De Waal 2, and Jesslynn Houtman 2. Quinter was led in scoring by Kvasnicka and Briggs, each with 6 points.

Scoring for St. Francis in the B-team contest were Maggie Hingst 6, Makaila Matthies 4, Jaclyn Milliken 4, and Sophie White 1.

The young Lady Indians will play Cheyin, at Cheylin, on Tuesday, November 27.
