Emma Johnson hopes to study in the medical field and become a nurse

By Anitzia Mayorquin

Emma Johnson is a competitive and truly passionate athlete. She is thoughtful, hardworking and above all else respectful to everyone she comes across. She hopes to study in the medical field and become a nurse. She has applied and been accepted to Fort Hays State University which she plans to attend.

Principal Dave Morrow said he has enjoyed watching Emma grow into the woman she is today.

“She has proven herself to be a tough competitor, good teammate, and a very responsible learner in the classroom,” Morrow said. “That combination of character traits will serve her well in the future as she leaves high school and moves on to the next chapter of her life.”

She has had many successes in sports and before high school ends hopes to beat her personal records.

Emma doesn't only play with commitment and dedication, but also leads by example.

“I could go on and on about Emma!” said Coach ShayLinn Zweygardt. “She is such a hard working, kind and trustworthy young lady. I am so proud of her and feel truly lucky that I got the opportunity to coach such a passionate and competitive athlete throughout the past six years. I will miss her kind heart and contagious smile!”

Senior Adam Krien has always been a close friend of Emma’s growing up and has many fond memories of Johnson.

“My favorite memory with Emma would be our field trip to Estes Park in fifth grade,” Krien said. “I think what made it memorable was when Emma fell.”

Johnson said she is grateful.

“I am so blessed to have gone to SFCHS and thankful for all the amazing people who were a part of my journey,” she said.
