District Plan for Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services

PART I.

Describe how the district will maintain the health and safety of students, educators, and other staff and the extent to which it has adopted policies, and a description of any such policies, on each of the following safety recommendations established by the CDC:

(A)   Universal and correct wearing of masks.

All unvaccinated faculty, staff, and students are welcomed to wear masks. 

(B)    Modifying facilities to allow for physical distancing (e.g., use of cohorts/podding).

Whereas our facilities are not large enough to allow for social distancing in a normal school day, social distancing will be implemented only at the suggestion of the Cheyenne County Health Department.  

(C)    Handwashing and respiratory etiquette.

Students will be encouraged to wash their hands regularly and hand sanitizer will be available for students. 

(D)   Cleaning and maintaining healthy facilities, including improving ventilation.

All facilities will be cleaned on a normal daily basis, and teachers are encouraged to use a combination of open windows and air conditioning to keep their rooms appropriately ventilated and comfortable for students.  

(E)    Contact tracing in combination with isolation and quarantine, in collaboration with the State, local, territorial, or Tribal health departments.

 The Cheyenne County Health Department will continue to do all contract tracing.

(F)    Diagnostic and screening testing.

Students will be monitored for signs of poor health by teachers and administrative personnel, who will contact parents to have their children sent home if they appear to be sick.  

(G)   Efforts to provide vaccinations to school communities.

 The Cheyenne County Local Health Department will continue to vaccinate the community.  If Cheyenne County Local Health Department 

 

(H)   Appropriate accommodations for children with disabilities with respect to health and safety policies

Students with disabilities will be monitored for signs of poor health by teachers and administrative personnel, who will contact parents to have their children sent home if they appear to be sick. 

(I)      Coordination with State and local health officials.

USD 297 will continue to coordinate with state and local health officials on how to adequately protect our students and school staff from Covid 19.

 

Part II.

Describe how the district will ensure continuity of services, including but not limited to:

(A)   services to address students' academic needs

 USD 297 will not offer remote/hybrid learning.  We feel that to best meet the students' needs for education, that students need to be in the classroom learning with their peers.    

(B) students' and staff social, emotional, mental health

USD 297 has hired a full-time K-12 Counselor and a part-time counselor for the K-5 building to help meet the needs of all students.  All K-12 students have 30 minutes weekly social/emotional 

(C) other needs, which may include student health and food services.

USD 297 will continue to coordinate with state and local health officials on how to adequately protect our students and school staff from Covid 19.
